Garrett Koloski (drummer):
“So I got my first tattoo when I was 20, which was mom and dad above my knees… And then I didn’t get another tattoo for about 2yrs, I figured I didn’t like anything else enough to get it permanently on my body… And then it hit me, holy shit I need a Marilyn Manson tattoo! So I got the cover of antichrist superstar tattooed on thigh.
“Sure Marilyn Manson might represent some mall goth kids hanging out at hot topic… But to me it represented being comfortable with being yourself. And when I was a mixed up 14yr old that’s exactly what I needed. Looking back I’m proud of being myself in a time when being yourself, especially when you’re a ‘weirdo’ is difficult.
“Sure I don’t really listen to Marilyn Manson now, or know any of his newer records… But holy shit that band meant the world to me for a few critical years as a young adult!”
Ray McAndrew (guitarist):
“This was my second tattoo, I got it when I was 19. ‘Rest in pizza’ was one of three life mottos I lived by and I thought it was the goofiest one so I had my friend Zoe Burnett draw me up an idea I had to turn it into a tattoo. I’m pretty sure I’ve only gotten tattoos that I’ve ended up regretting.”
Greg Ambler (bassist):
“Bloody Tampon with Yellow and Purple Sunburst”
Artist: Jemola Addley (Resurrected Tattoo; Syracuse, NY)
“I was 22 and only had one tiny tattoo on my wrist. I always thought most ink was too traditional for me and remained untouched. When a friend of mine brought me with him to get a touch up done Jemola showed us the drawing that was intended for a person in the shop with a certain distaste for natural bodily functions and stated that it would go to the first willing victim. Seeing as how I had never come across such a piece of art I thought it was fitting for my personality along with my love and respect for the enduring opposite gender.
“I sometimes joke with my mother saying that one day I will get the word “MOM” incorporated into it.”
Perfect Pussy and Joanna Gruesome will be at the Sinclair on August 27th. We’re holding a ticket giveaway for their concert that you definitely want to enter. The two bands are also releasing a comic book/split 7″ set to be released sometime in the fall on Slumberland/Fortuna Pop/Captured Tracks.
