Our hearts will always be tied to Exploding In Sound, and as such we’re rightfully in love with Brooklyn five-piece Baked. Their smoke-filled vocals and casual strumming put us in passenger seat of a roadtrip car ride we’ve been looking forward to all summer. On their new track “Don’t Trip,” we’re trailing through the midwest, the sun is high, and we may be coughing on a joint.
With 8-trak humming and a lazy guitar tone, the song sounds like the type of slow-rolling stoner rock you would expect from a group with their name. Wait for the dreamy guitar solo that guides us to a block of feedback. The four-minute doozy is slower than their psychedelic “Mick Jagger,” but it keeps us entertained all the same and eager to pick up their debut LP Debt when it drops August 19.
Put down Salad Days and hit play below; it’s time to listen to the next big lo-fi jam band.
