Grab your Bayonet- Records, that is. Brooklyn indie babes Beach Fossils have blown us out of the water time and time again with their dreamy, lo-fi, beachy indie pop a la Beach House. (Coincidences are funny, aren’t they?) Well, lucky for us, frontman Dustin Payseur has launched his very own label with wife. Bayonet Records is just beginning to poke the surface of the music industry, so far representing and spearheading the release of the upcoming Beach Fossils record, as well as representing indie queen Frankie Cosmos.
Their first release will come to us in March, putting out a full-length cassette from up-and-coming Atlanta rockers Warehouse. Bayonet plans to release music in the formats of cassettes, vinyl LPs, and 7-inch exclusives from the artists they represent and plan to pick up along the way.
Beach Fossils’ contract with Captured Tracks, is set to expire soon, meaning the band will be making the transition to Bayonet seamlessly. Payseur and wife Garcia said in an exclusive interview with Fader that their goal in creating this label was to be accepting of all artists and give them freedom to release their music in whatever format works best for them. The pair also mentioned early dreams of working in music; and while Payseur achieved that through Beach Fossils, and Garcia through Captured Tracks, both are excited to be behind their very own label.
They just launched a Twitter account and Facebook page a few days ago, as well as a teaser video on their brand new YouTube channel. Check it out.
