Before there’s even a chance to cover up the ridiculous sunburns we accrued at Boston Calling this weekend, we’ve already received word on what the September edition’s going to sound like, which can be viewed above.
Happening on the weekend of the 25th-27th, the headliners appear to be folk heroes The Avett Brothers, British folktronic weirdos Alt-J, blues rock-to-alternative radio crossovers Alabama Shakes, and the newly crowned prince of folk pop radio Hozier. As always, the beautiful hodgepodge of genres is ever present this September at City Hall Plaza, mashing pop radio favorites (Of Monsters and Men, Walk the Moon, Nate Ruess of fun. fame) alongside blog-beloved acts (Father John Misty, Daughter, Bully) and elder statesmen of the scene (Steven Malkmus and The Jicks, i.e. where all the cool dads and I will be)
And, of course, Calling has named two of Boston’s brightest locals in Dirty Bangs and Grey Season to the festival stage, which should be rad in and of itself.
Tickets are on sale May 26th-27th and this will, as always, sell out way too quick, so hop on it and worry about the financial implications later!
