Thanksgiving is soon, which means Christmastime is right around the corner. If you’re like most humans and just now remembered that last-minute gift shopping will soon be upon us, don’t panic. There’s a new art auction happening right now that’s got plenty of one-of-a-kind gifts your older brother or BFF will brag about owning until they die.
Sydney, Australia radio station FBi puts on an annual art auction of musician-made pieces to fund the not-for-profit station. The auction, called “Brush With Fame“, recruits various musicians from around their world and asks them to decorate a plain white canvas however they like with fabric markers. They can take inspiration from whatever they choose. Artists who got their doodle on for the station include Alt J, Ásgeir, Banks, Buck 65, Chali 2NA (Jurassic 5 / Ozomatli), Chet Faker, DARKSIDE, Dustin Tebutt, Earl Sweatshirt, Ears, El-P, Glass Animals, Holy Fuck, Ice Age, Four Tet, The Jezabels, Jon Hopkins, Killer Mike, Little Dragon, Little May, London Grammar, Lee Ranaldo (Sonic Youth), Megan Washington, Midlake, Mount Kimbie, Okkervil River, Phantogram, Phoenix, Sky Ferreira, Sly & Robbie, St. Vincent, Veronica Falls, and Warpaint.
