Conor Oberst Releases Video for “Common Knowledge”

It’s Friday and what do we get? Conor Oberst, warbly-voiced dreamboat to sad girls everywhere, delivers a new video for “Common Knowledge.” The video marks the second release off the singer’s first solo LP in five years, Upside Down Mountain, off Nonesuch Records. Despite the difference between May’s or “Zigzagging Toward the Light”  and the tune we hear today, both videos focus aesthetically are bleak, carrying on a dreary black, white and gray monochromatic focus.

Directed by David Altobelli, the video has Oberst taking on the look of a paranoid hermit. Oberst’s not an actor by any means, but agoraphobically characterized via cheap wig and felt hat. Squint hard enough at the right moment, and he almost looks like a weird Neil Young.

Take a gander for yourself:

Oberst will kick off the latest leg of his US tour September 14th, with dates running through mid-October.
