The closure of Great Scott has hit us really hard over here at Allston Pudding. The small neighborhood bar and venue has been a breeding ground for some of the best up-and-coming acts in the Boston area and around the world. One day, you’d see the next big buzz indie act like Orville Peck, the next day a local punk show, the next day a local hip hop show, and repeat. We’re worried about our other independent venues in the neighborhood and want to show our support for the staff at Great Scott who no longer have a job to return to. We want to show our support for O’Brien’s and their staff as well. That’s why today we are announcing a few things we are working on with some friends to help.
On Wednesday, May 13, we’re hosting the first show in a livestream series to benefit the staff at Great Scott and O’Brien’s with Disposable America and Artificial Contact. There will be performances by Jonah Furman of Krill, Horse Jumper of Love, Squirrel Flower, Anna Altman, and Squitch at 8pm EDT on our Twitch channel. RSVP to the Facebook event.
More livestreams will be announced soon, AND we are taking submissions for a benefit comp to be released in early June. If you have performed at Great Scott or O’Brien’s (whether you’re local or not!), please send all submissions for tracks to christine@allstonpudding.com by May 27. Please send a LINK to your music, not an attachment.
We’ll also be publishing a series of stories about Great Scott. If you have a story you’d like to tell, please send it to christine@allstonpudding.com with any multimedia to go along with it (i.e. photos or videos).
Long live Great Scott!
