Singer-Songwriter Hillary Barleaux may be a familiar name to some locals. The now Brooklyn-based musician not long ago was studying at Berklee and kicking it in Allston, hosting shows and playing out quite often. Now Barleaux has just completed her new debut full-length thanks to some Kickstarter support, and today, is sharing the album’s first single called “You Don’t Know Me.” Weaving together playful lyricism and intricate, instrumentally peculiar melodies, Barleaux shows her grasp on theory and composition, but keeps the songs simple and sweet enough to remain palatable. The album was recorded by Joe Saliba at Mad Oak Studios in Allston, the spot that has produced material from local studs ranging from Earthquake Party to Amanda Palmer. Take a listen to “You Don’t Know Me” below, and keep your eyes out for Barleaux’s debut full length, coming soon.
