Local singer songwriter Kayln Rock has just released her second project, the 2-song Heart Contagious EP, through Black Hat Music. Rock’s authentic, bare bones style comes to life beautifully with these songs, which is why we’re pleased to premiere the b-side track, “Ceiling Stars.” Collaborating with producer Josh Cohen (Guster, Golden Bloom, etc.), Rock and her band, which features Cohen on keys/guitar/bass, Justin Hoffmann on drums, and Matt Girard of Parks on Bass/Horn, bring introspective lyrics to a sonically curious place. Stepping towards new territories instrumentally while retaining enough simplicity to showcase Rock’s thoughts, “Ceiling Stars” is quite the lovely way to spend your next three minutes.
