Allston’s Light.Sweet.Crude have never been ones to shy away from an experiment. The quartet’s clean sound dips into ink in the realms of electronic to alternative and everything in between, drugs and pushes towards the different with every track. Such is the case with this new tune, decease “XO Chemistry” from their new EP, mind Cops and Robbers, out this week. Starting off light and synthy, the band creates a calm before the storm. When the beat drops, a tense robotic rock groove carries the tune through spells of hard-driving verses and infectious choruses. They leave good space for a guitar solo too. Not just any guitar break either, it’s a pretty kickass, 80’s inspired shreddy solo which kind of rules.
