Hear Built to Spill’s First New Single in Six Years, “Living Zoo”

It’s been six years since Built To Spill‘s last album–There Is No Enemy in 2009–but the emo rock icons are returning to the stage this year to unveil Untethered Moon. The LP drops April 21 via Warner Bros. They’ve made a few appearances over the years, including a stop at Boston Calling, but their return to the studio marks something very special. As we can hear in the album’s lead single, “Living Zoo”, they haven’t lost their charm.

Built To Spill are back with a vengeance and Doug Martsch’s guitars and vocals never seemed to leave us after all. “Living Zoo” is a bright single that ushers us back into the band’s sound. The opening measures send out stark riffs  with a devilish twist, like a best friend who’s playing repeated tricks on you before laughing, giving you a playful punch, and bringing you in for a hug with a sped up tempo. Indie rock’s icons are still the heroes we bowed to before. Give it a listen below:
