That reason you were looking for to dance uncontrollably has arrived. Australian dance act Hot Chip have announced the follow-up to 2012’s excellent In Our Heads. The album, titled Why Make Sense?, drops May 18 via Domino. It was was co-produced by the band and Mark Ralph who worked on the last full-length. Because they know we won’t stop dancing even after a full listen-through of the record, Hot Chip have also announced a new EP titled Separate. The four-track release is made up of cuts from the studio session for the album. The EP will come with all pre-orders.
The lead single off the album is “Huarache Lights”. Clocking in just under six minutes, it’s an explosive number that brings darker dub and London-style club mixing over a disco structure. The accompanying video is a one-take visual shot by Andy Knowles that’s inspired by a Robert Bell light installation.
