Don’t start hating on February yet – this week’s stacked tour announcements make up for all that shitty weather. From Mary Timony’s new band to Philly locals Creepoid, there’s a wide range of awesomeness to acquaint your ears with. Here are a few things to take your mind off of the bitter cold:
Ava Luna (Great Scott, 2/13)
Praised throughout the indie blogosphere for their avant-garde jams, Ava Luna have been giving us small tastes of what to expect from their follow-up to 2012’s Ice Level and, needless to say, we’re all stoked. They’re gearing up for a March 3rd record release and an epic tour with Krill, which kicks off tomorrow night (2/8).
Creepoid (Lilypad, 3/29)
Don’t let the name fool you – it’s in your best interest to give these Philly indie rockers a listen. Playing a few dates with Casket Girls this month, Creepoid will continue touring in support of their self-titled sophomore album, which drops on March 4th.
Disco Doom (Great Scott, 3/30)
There’s no denying that Exploding in Sound killed it in 2013 and judging from Disco Doom‘s latest tunes, the label might out-do itself this year. Dropping their third album Numerals this Tuesday (2/11), the Zurich trio will be playing several shows in the area with some Allston Pudding favorites – Ovlov? Yep. Palehound? You betcha. Krill? Duh!
Ex Hex (Brighton Music Hall, 4/1)
Although we already knew Mary Timony’s latest act would be touring throughout March, there’s just been word that the trio will be stopping in Allston on April Fools’ Day (which we’re hoping isn’t a poorly planned joke). Ex Hex will be releasing their debut 7” on March 18th.
Angel Olsen (Sinclair, 5/9)
With her upcoming album Burn Your Fire for No Witness dropping in less than two weeks, Angel Olsen has both expanded her spring tour to include a Boston date and has premiered a new video. Check out “Hi-Five” below and get excited for her show at the Sinclair:
