This is our friend, Bob Records.

What does your company do?

I aim to provide a quality product for bands who are out there working hard and making music that I love.  A slick physical representation that rocks as much as the songs is what I strive to achieve.

How did Bob Records get started?
Friends of mine in the band People in Cars (Washington DC), who are one of my all time favorites, were recording and didn’t have a plan on how to release their newest tracks.  The label was something I’d been fantasizing about since moving to Boston in 2011 and this seemed like the perfect place to start.  I presented them with the idea of letting me fund the physical product and slapping a logo on it.  They were very receptive and remain some of my closest friends.
Why do you do it?

Ever since I started getting into underground music at the age of 13, I’d become enamored with DIY small  labels.  In particular, I thought (and still think) Asian Man Records is the coolest thing in the world.  The root of it all is helping people who I think could benefit from an extra hand.  It all contributes towards strengthening a music community, which is one of the most special and sacred things that can exist.  Through years of envisioning what I would eventually do after I was done touring in bands, everything came to life in Boston.  The music scene was thriving and it was really inspiring.  I also noticed a few other small labels in the area that were putting out some of the best bands I’d ever heard.  I wanted to be a part of that.  I think it’s really important that bands who are out there playing as much as possible and writing great music have someone to help them with their vision of a physical medium that aligns with their songs.

Who are some of your favorite bands?

Cave In, People in Cars, Signal Hill, Minus the Bear, Gifts From Enola, Faraquet/Medications, Krill (but I could nerd out for hours on a few hundred more…).

What is your favorite food spot in Boston?
Soul Fire in Allston and Bamboo in Brighton get me gut giddy.
