Jacob Augustine knows you’re about to claw the next cheery grin that describes life like a highway, road, or box of chocolates in the face of this (finally) perishing winter, so he’s offering another option with the video for “Salvation”:
Life is like a chocolate Easter egg-colored medicine ball hanging from a rattail on your neck that you can’t let go of until you die and become a balloon.
It’s not exactly a line of imagery that flows off the tongue, but the Jeremy Collins-directed video is an all-too-familiar tale of looming mortality dressed in a reverent, yet whimsical outfit. Couple that with Augustine’s Maine-born folk warbling that howls for “Salvation” rather than receives it and you’ve got a duo that truly knows what frigid despair is all about. Watch the video below.
“Salvation” is out today alongside Philadelphia’s Bad Braids on a split 7” released by the aptly titled Pretty Purgatory collective. The split is absolutely loaded with guest appearances from current & former members of O’Death, Tredici Bacci, Lady Lamb the Beekeeper, The Milkman’s Union, Cowboy Band, Family Planning, and others. Augustine will be performing 3/23 on the UMass Amherst campus in Amherst, MA.
