Jamapalooza Takes Over Cambridge This Weekend

Do you like live music, good food, great comedians, and fresh air? Do you dislike paying for things? Do you have free time and access to the great city of Cambridge, Massachusetts this Sunday, August 3rd? Well then you might be interested in the happenings set to take place in Lafayette Square from 12-8PM.

The happenings are best known as Jamapalooza, a completely free music, art, and comedy festival presented by Art City Cambridge. The musical lineup will feature eight different local acts, headlined by multinational five piece Night Lights (who, if you haven’t heard, can throw together a pretty mean five course meal). Joining them will be acts such as Amy and the Engine, Mariko, and Leafcutter.

If all this great music and the fact that it’s summer depresses you, there will also be stand-up performances from top local comedians Kenice Mobley and Jake McDowell to lift your spirits. Couple that with art installations from Meslissa Sackerman Glick and The Magic School Busk, and you’ll have all the evidence you need to convince  your friends that you are significantly more cultured than they are.

Jamapalooza is the first in a series of six free cultural events to be held in Cambridge throughout the month of August. For more info on Jamapalooza and everything else  Art City Cambridge has on tap in the coming weeks, Check out the Facebook event.

And after all this if you’re still confused as to where Lafayette Square is, just point yourself to the park between Toscanini’s Ice Cream and The Asgard on Mass. Ave in Central Square – you can’t miss it.
