As a musician, Juan Wauters is known for introspective, slightly off-kilter pop songs that are perfect for a lazy August afternoon or a long drive to the beach. As a photojournalist…. well, Juan isn’t really that well known. But that is about to change, as we are proud to present photographic evidence of his recent road trip to the west coast for a short run of tour dates that included shows with Mac DeMarco and Drinking Flowers.
When not searching for a caffeine fix or exploring America’s natural wonders this fall, the former Beets frontman plans to hit Europe for a slew of dates in September, before returning to the states for a show at Great Scott on October 14th with White Fence and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, presented by Allston Pudding and Illegally blind (Facebook event for more details).
Wauters’s solo debut N.A.P North American Poetry is out now on Captured Tracks.
One day I went to DC
Another day we started driving to the West Coast with Tall Juan and Matt Volz
Visited some stores
And then visited some more stores
And met some sweet people
Matt got upset to find out there was no money for coffee
We saw a storm coming
So we pulled over in Pontiac, IL
The day after I saw a gate with no fence and I thought it was groundbreaking
We also visited my aunt, Yunga, in Denver
A helicopter flew over the car
We stopped to check out the scene in Arizona
Acted as if the car broke down in the middle of no where
Got to California. Looked at the beautiful wine country
In LA we drove by the beautiful Union Station
We visited our dearest friends form the band Sea Lions in Oxnard, CA. Here we see tall Juan with Kyle and Matt with Matt
In San Francisco I was this car
And hung out with the realest player in the game: Al Lover
