One of the biggest disappointments in my recent years was the cancellation of British psych band Klaxons’ North American tour in 2011. There’s nothing quite like buying a ticket to see a band for the first time whom you’ve listened to for years, only to have the whole thing cancelled. This leaves you to think that the only sensible action is to burn the ticket so that it hurts a little bit less.

Klaxons went into hiding and for the first time in years we have a pulse from the group. Today the band put out a glimpse of the new record they have supposedly been working on with the Chemical Brothers and James Murphy. The track is called “There Is No Other Time” and I have to say – it’s a bit disappointing. What we have here is a muddled down and surprisingly…happier side of the group? I’m confused. Is everyone and their mother getting bit by the disco-bug (see: Arcade Fire, Broken Bells)?
