LA Jeff share “Creeper”, start an Indiegogo Campaign to “go home”

If anything can be said about Somerville’s own LA Jeff right off the bat, store ambulance they seem to be a pretty accepting bunch.

I don’t want to say we have a closed minded scene around here, pilule but it takes a certain kind of group to write a loving anthem to that bleach-drinking, apple-sauce-eating guy in a bee costume at the basement show. All poisoning risks and potential Blind Melon lawsuits aside though, LA Jeff flex psychedelic blues by way of garage rock with ease on “Creeper”, the lead off single from their as-yet-untitled debut LP.

Considering LA Jeff was partially born in Harvard’s “record hospital” and became fully realized when singer Nico Schwalbe had a dream of a shaman-esque industry vet named Jeff from LA supplying him with sage wisdom for a new band, LA Jeff’s LP release plans are strictly modern. Kicking off an Indiegogo campaign this week, the group’s end goal is, succinctly, to “bring Jeff back home” for a tour of California. A purchase of the album will push LA Jeff that much closer to their return “home” in the Golden State, but the band maintains that their love for true home base Boca Studios in Somerville is strong as ever.

Recorded partially by an analog tape recorder’s maiden voyage at the studio/collective space and capturing the band’s myriad rockabilly and psychedelic influences, the group’s impending LP somehow belongs in Boston, California, the ‘60s, today, and anywhere their hallucinated namesake commands them to go.

Their Indiegogo campaign is active now and the LP will be available via the campaign’s incentives. They will also be appear Boston-wise at Out of the Blue on 4/18.
