The Echo Nest is at it again. Earlier in the week, they released a map of the US showing the most distinctive artists by state in the US. Boston got Neil Young and everyone got upset. There was some confusion around that map though. It wasn’t showing favorite artists by state, rather the most distinctly listened to artists by state when compared to all of the other states.
Yesterday, they released a map showing favorite artists by state compared to last year’s listening habits. This map is surprisingly regional with Jay-Z dominating the entire east coast, Drake in the southwest, and Macklemore in the northwest. There are some curveballs in there like Imagine Dragons in South Dakota (no need to visit that state I guess). See the pic:
Today, the echo folks put out a list of which musicians people don’t have time for. This is more my speed. Hate hate hate. The below map shows artists people in each state listen to the least compared to the rest of the country:
Now come on Massachusetts, I thought we liked R. Kelly? It actually seems like most of the country doesn’t have time for R. Kelly. Shame.
