Melt-Banana Announce Tour, Play Great Scott on 5/21

Melt-banana

When Justin Vernon of Bon Iver announced the lineup for his brand new festival, Eaux Claires Music Fest, some bands seemed like natural fits: Sufjan Stevens, The National, Bon Iver (duh). Several bands stuck out like sore thumbs: Boys Noize, Liturgy, Charles Bradley. Only one band seemed like a typo: Melt-Banana. The Japanese noise rockers are easily 10 times louder than every band on that bill combined. The only other date they were set to play is Maryland Deathfest, a festival much more suited for their sound. That is until their newly announced tour.

As Brooklyn Vegan points out, Melt-Banana will be treading around North America for a lengthy tour surrounding the festivals. They stop in Boston on May 21 at Great Scott. Tickets aren’t on sale yet but likely will be this Friday. Don’t forget your earplugs. It will be one of the loudest shows this summer. No openers have been announced yet for the tour except for Torche in July.

Check out their website for more information. Please note that their band website is a geocities site. It is 2015. Those still exist. It’s like Melt-Banana wanted to make us love them more than we already do.
