Meredith Graves launches record label

In what seems to be on its way to becoming a trend of band members launching their own labels, Syracuse cutie Meredith Graves of Perfect Pussy has launched her own record label, called Honor Press. Her mission statement, found on the label’s website, is simple and sweet:

our goal is to release honest work made by nice people: no snobs, no phonies, no shitheads.”

This comes months after the band announced they’d be re-releasing their debut album in both vinyl and CD formats, complete with a photo diary of the band’s experiences on their previous tour. Accompanying that, you still have time to catch them on their tour around the U.S- they’re hitting up Pearl Street in Northampton on March 27th.

So far Honor Press is only host to one group- a California trio called So Stressed. Truly enigmatic, these three strapping young lads have long labored over their freshman album, Unlawful Trade, set to be released via Graves’ new project on May 26th. So Stressed are set to embark on a spring tour throughout the US- unfortunately skipping over the Boston area. Their post-hardcore sound meshes almost dissonantly with their sweet personalities, yet all is reconciled in their tight tracks. Their persistence is evident in the pristinely polished, nerve wracking Telltale Heart-esque repetition and rhythms, and melodies that spiral just far enough out of control.

You’ll have to wait to pick up their album, but you can keep track of the progress of Honor Press as it comes along and as Meredith continues to develop it, picking up more artists. A songsmith like her is sure to pack a talented roster. For now, for your satisfaction, check out So Stressed’s first track released under the label below.
