Weathervane is a non-profit music organization based out of Philadelphia that started as an effort to create a platform where independent artists could come together and share their music. Since their creation, they’ve launched a number of projects to further this ideal. Their most recent project is called Shaking Through, and it focuses on the creative process behind music. “This acclaimed, interactive series gives select artists unparalleled opportunity to create new work, then shares all raw audio files, recording notes and final mixes with members to download, remix, and reimagine at will,” explains their “about” page.
Mutual Benefit were the most recent participants in the Shaking Through series, having just put out a single, “Not For Nothing”, in conjunction with the project. The group has been crafting hazy indie pop for a few years now, but we haven’t seen a studio release since Love’s Crushing Diamond. “Not For Nothing” comes as Mutual Benefit’s first single in two years.
Members of the project can access the song and watch a brief documentary to accompany it, with the opportunity to remix it here. You can check out the rest of Shaking Through’s lineup here.
