To anyone familiar with songwriter Mark Mulcahy, the news of his new album is both interesting and exciting.
The Mezzotint Label just announced the release of ‘Dear Mark J Mulcahy I Love You.’ This will be the first studio release by Mark Mulcahy since 2005’s critically acclaimed In Pursuit Of Your Happiness.
To those unfamiliar with Mulcahy, he is the former singer of the well regarded and influential Connecticut band Miracle Legion. He also formed the band Polaris and wrote the music for the Nickelodeon show ‘The Adventures of Pete & Pete’ (aka one of my favorite shows ever ya blowhole!). Mulcahy has been a tremendous influence on a number of songwriters including Thom Yorke, Michael Stipe, and The National.
Recorded with Henning Ohlenbusch in Northampton, Massachusetts, the album was mixed by Grammy-winning producer Paul Q. Kolderie, (Radiohead, The Pixies, Hole, Morphine, Uncle Tupelo, Warren Zevon and Dinosaur Jr.). The record was mastered by Mark’s longtime collaborator Myles Mangino. The album is 11 new songs and features a host of amazing musicians from the incredible Northampton music scene.
‘Dear Mark J Mulcahy I Love You’ will be out June 18th, and he will be touring this summer, including a stop at Wilco’s Solid Sound Festival in Western Mass.
