New Kal Marks Track, “Life Is Murder”; New Album

Allston trio Kal Marks is one of those local bands who have put in their time. Endless shows supporting bands who understand how good they are have acted as a warmup for their debut full-length, Life is Murder, out September 17th on Midnight Werewolf, Exploding in Sound, and Sophomore Lounge Records. This entire collaboration is just one major local cream dream and it deserves your full attention.

To make matters even more rad, they’ve released the first track from the album, also titled “Life is Murder” and it features Jonah from Krill on backup vocals. Kal Marks have always been an interesting breed of singer-songwritery punk, and this new recording brings their unique style to life even further. I particularly take a liking to Carl Shane’s vocals, which combine a southern twang with angsty powerful wails. It creates a dynamic that perfectly complements the tension and release of their song structures. It’s a no-brainer that this album is going to get Kal Marks so traction both in Boston and beyond, but in the meantime, do yourself a favor and dig this track.
