New music from Bent Knee plus a show

“But it’s cold!” you protest when your friend asks you to go do something this weekend. You’re happily snuggled in your favorite blanket, shoving piece after piece of peppermint bark into your mouth as the tinsel you never finished hanging up dangles precariously from your doorframe. But then your friend whips out Bent Knee‘s latest album, and your eyes gloss over as their ethereal, melodic indie blares.

Released just last month, Shiny Eyed Babies captures the artsy blend of sounds that makes up Bent Knee. Melancholy and heartfelt, their latest release expertly showcases their talents. Berklee natives, they’re no strangers to Boston either. Utilizing innovative techniques in their music, with violins, pianos, and instrument lines so bare bones they’re nearly non-existent, Bent Knee is a refreshing breath of fresh air in the overwhelming indie rock scene that’s constantly growing. Reminiscent of friendly Bostonians Lake Street Dive with their powerful vocals and emotional lyrics, they’re captivating and mysterious.

You can download Shiny Eyed Babies off their Bandcamp.

If Bent Knee has warmed up to you, you can catch them at the Red Room @ Cafe 939 this Friday night. A homecoming show for these past Berklee attendees, it’s sure to be a great show. Snag tickets here!

Catch them on the last leg of their album release tour in the Midwest and Northeast.
