New music from members of Ovlov, Speedy Ortiz

What do you get when you mix Ovlov, Speedy Ortiz, Palehound, Dirty Dishes, and Two Inch Astronaut?

An EP that’s truly Exploding In Sound!!!

(Sorry.)

But really, this is a real thing: Philadelphia Collins is the name of a new project between Theo Hartlett (drummer of Ovlov… RIP) and Devin McKnight (guitarist for Speedy Ortiz). They just released their first single, called “Sofa Queen,” which will be part of their first EP on Exploding in Sound Records, called Derp Swervin’.

This track features Ellen Kempner of Palehound‘s voice, a fuzzy lilt that carries the song from a slow garage rock tune, to a loud cacophony of dizzying guitar melodies and heavy drums – and back again over the course of three minutes.

Here’s the rest of the track listing:

1. Dogsbody (feat. Sam Rosenberg [of Two Inch Astronaut])
2. Sofa Queen (feat. Ellen Kempner)
3. Ted Rock
4. Sapphire (feat. Jenny Tuite [of Dirty Dishes])
5. Bells and Dimes (feat. Abe Kimball [of Spook the Herd / Vending Machetes])

You’ll be able to download the EP from bandcamp and EIS (of course) next month and you can preorder it now here: explodinginsoundrecords.bandcamp.com/album/derp-swervin
