Boston indie quartet Oh, Malô have only been around for a year, but they already have three EPs to their credit, and are steadily garnering a legion of fans thanks in part to the ambitious nature of those records.
The band set out to detail the different stages of a tough breakup through this series of EPs, assigning each one a different color based on the mood it conveyed. Blue was the band’s first recorded material, and was meant to represent anguish, denial, and internal conflict. The next EP Red represented anger and aggression. The recently released Orange EP completes the series and is more uplifting and positive than the previous two and represents the healing process.
We discussed the series of EPs with Oh, Malô by sending them some of our own color-themed questions. Allston Pudding: Favorite Blues artist?
Oh, Malô: B.B. King, RIP
AP: Favorite Bluetooth Device?
OM: There’s a Bluetooth speaker in our kitchen that blasts out delightfully distorted versions of all of our favorite songs.
AP: Worst black and blue you’ve ever had?
OM: Our bass player, Jordan, once fell 15 feet over the front end of a stairwell and afterwards we couldn’t tell if his ankle was black and blue, or white and gold.
AP: What do you have in common with the Blue Man Group?
OM: One time our guitarist, Jack, wore a pantyhose over his head and was featured in one of our music videos with a bald silhouette.
AP: Favorite song on Weezer’s Blue Album?
OM: Who’s Weezer?

AP: Worst sunburn you’ve ever had?
OM: We all took a trip to Las Vegas for Brandon’s bachelor party and had a pretty rough night and woke up the next day and Brandon was nowhere to be found so we embarked on a journey across the desert retracing the clues that would eventually lead us to a face tattooed boxer and his prized pet tiger, a hasty engagement, and an extremely sun burnt Brandon.
Intersection where you most often get stuck at a red light?
Outside of Berklee, tryna get some beef jerky, either in between classes, or on my way to worklee
Band member most likely to be on the winning team in a game of Red Rover?

Best chain restaurant: Red Lobster, Red Robin, or Pizza Hut?
One of these is not like the other? Probably Red Robin because they respectfully request that you don’t bring firearms into their establishments. Sounds reasonable.
