Recall that “new kid” who joined your middle school class one September. She migrated from a city, wore an orange beanie to school, got along with her table-mates and, get this, was unanimously good at EVERYTHING. For Boston right now, that’s Palehound: our own local definition of thriving.
Since last fall, the alternative three-piece has played plenty of shows in the area showcasing frontwoman Ellen Kempner’s songwriting and performing prowess. The good news is that we have good news highlighting both!
Exploding in Sound Records announced yesterday that they’ll release Palehound’s debut full-length in August. According to a post from EIS’s Facebook page, further details are on the way, but, “for now, them test presses have been approved.”
And show-wise, there’s an announcement there too! The band’s about to start a tour mostly of dates with Boston-born Speedy Ortiz and Philly-phavorites SANDY Alex G. The trio seems like somewhat of an emotional-alt sampler. Loyal fans can hit up these shows with love while first-time listeners can catch up on what the’ve been missing. Regardless of your category, make it out to one of these dates if you find yourself West of here in the coming weeks, and grab a copy of Palehound’s “Bent Nail” EP on cassette and “Kitchen” 7″ while you’re at it.
