PHOTO REVIEW: Diet Cig w/ Daddy Issues & Lilith at Brighton Music Hall (04/08)

I nominate Alex Luciano to receive the trophy for most athletic front person of 2017 (so far). Alex and her bandmate Noah Bowman of Diet Cig executed a power set of fuzz pop anthems at Brighton Music Hall on Saturday April 8th. If smiles are a currency, Diet Cig was making it rain all night long. The Brooklyn duo casually strolled onstage following the release of their first official full length while Cher’s “Believe” blasted through the front of house P.A. “Swear I’m Good At This” is the title of the 12 song LP released 4/7/17 through Frenchkiss Records. As the late 90’s top 40 dance hit faded out Alex slowly strummed a few thick chords singing woes of dating a guy with her same name. After a few bars, Noah kicked the party into full swing with his playful style of perpetual energy commanding cadence over his counterpart. The relationship of tension and release between the two is absolute proof that magic is real. Alex locks right in to the groove, delivering massive guitar hooks underneath her whimsical vocal melodies and slice of life lyrics. But the best part is…Alex is an athlete. She OWNS the stage with her high kicks, dancing, running, and jumping. When can we get the Diet Cig workout DVD? Diet Cig was supported by the Nashville bad girls, Daddy Issues and the Boston trio Lilith. Daddy Issues releases their first full length May 19th via Infinity Cat Recordings.
