Miguel rolled into town last night to kick off the second tour in support of his latest, fantastic album, War & Leisure. During the first night of The Ascension tour, he declared that this string of dates was for his true fans but proceeded to deliver a show that fans both new and old will remember for a long time. Miguel, backed by a stellar live band, danced his way through his catalogue and across the stage, frequently bouncing up and down the stairs at the back of the Blue Hills Bank Pavillion stage.
Miguel’s brand is unique, consisting of psychedelic soul, Latin pop, and r&b – blended together into one spiritual experience. Nonchalant Savant and DVSN both provided mood setting performances to get the crowd ready Miguel’s set. Once he hit the stage though, it came easy, with the singer oozing sex and soul, showing off his imagination and his inspirations, which undoubtedly include both the King of Pop and the one and only Prince.
Whether singing about making love all night, finding your place in the universe or riding your own confident wave, Miguel had the crowd on its feet, screaming, iPhones in the air – dancing the night away on one of late summer’s last beautiful evenings.
As this tour is just getting rolling, make sure to catch him if you can!
