Last Thursday night, Really From (fka People Like You) headlined a show at Great Scott joined by fellow local acts Squirrel Flower and Prior Panic, and Chicago touring partners, Mother Evergreen. The show was particularly significant for a number of reasons, as Prior Panic and Really From both debuted updated lineups, and Great Scott was the first stop on Really From and Mother Evergreen’s tour.
The bill showed off a variety of sounds and styles, beginning with Squirrel Flower’s captivating full band set, followed by the trio from Prior Panic playing their unique brand of electric cello rock. The last two bands, just beginning their two week run, complimented each other well. Mother Evergreen’s ambient and technical songs built up to Really From’s closing set, which fused together jazz, math and punk elements. The four piece closed with the track “Sleeptalk,” from their 2017 album Verse.
