Keeping up the momentum of great music touring through Boston this summer, Snail Mail played a sold out show with opener Bonny Doon at The Sinclair last Sunday in support of their latest full length, Lush, released on Matador Records.

Kicking off the night, Bonny Doon played a laid back indie rock set to a packed crowd. The band’s two guitarists, Bill Lennox and Bobby Colombo, both spent time on the microphone, and the group’s lineup also featured Snail Mail’s frontwoman, Lindsey Jordan, subbing in on bass. Highlights from their set included the title track of their March release, Longwave.

After Bonny Doon, Snail Mail began their set, playing to an extremely enthusiastic audience that cheered in recognition of every song as soon as it started. This warm reception of the night’s setlist made it hard to single out any particular track, with crowd pleasers including “Pristine,” “Thinning,” and “Heat Wave.” And despite being in the process of recovering from a hoarse voice, Jordan still managed to deliver on her signature powerful vocal performance. Towards the end of the show, Jordan invited Waxahatchee onstage for a for a duet cover of Sheryl Crow’s “Strong Enough.” After this surprise guest appearance, Snail Mail had one more track in store for the crowd, as the band closed with fan favorite, “Static Buzz,” from 2016’s EP, Habit.
