Premiere: Dirt Buyer

Dirt Buyer is a fairly new and shadowy emo-folk three piece based out of New Jersey. Birthed from the mind of guitarist/vocalist Jackson Sharpe and drummer/producer Orange S and centered around Sharpe’s personal and exacting lyricism, the band arose following the dissolution of a few other creative projects. Following just a couple of shows in Boston the trio–joined by bassist Sadie Delgado–are set to release their eight track self-titled debut through Danger Collective Records in January of 2019. They will also support the new record with a West Coast tour early in the new year.

Ahead of Dirt Buyer’s release the band is premiering a new video shot and produced by Boston scene observer Kit Castange and Hope Antonellis right here at Allston Pudding. Comprised almost entirely of one long shot, the video features a restrained, emotionally resonant performance of several songs off the new record. The hushed tone reflects well on the slow-burn intensity inherent in Sharpe’s songs.

The band had this to say about the video:

“[It] was supposed to our submission to Tiny Desk, but after all was said and done it became clear that we had broken a few submission rules and couldn’t send it. We decided to release it anyway because we really wanted to showcase these songs in a live setting. They’re fairly subdued compared to an actual performance, but the video encapsulates what the songs want to convey.”

Dirt Buyer plays a stacked show this Sunday at Queens, NY hotspot Trans-Pecos, and info can be found right here.

Dirt Buyer will be out on Danger Collective Records in January of 2019.
