After their debut album Human Love rocked the Boston DIY community last year, Divine Sweater shakes things up even further this year by taking their songwriting to a whole new level with their latest single “Looking For You (Everywhere)”.
This new single from the five-piece Allston band combines their talent for melodious instrumentals with storytelling, an area of songwriting the band has wanted to explore more since the release of their last record. Lead singer Meghan Kelleher opens up in “Looking For You (Everywhere)” about a time during her youth where she was separated from her family at a carnival and felt unbelievably lost. After writing the song with guitarist Sean Seaver, they brought it to the rest of the band and worked together to expand this personal anecdote into an emotional story most of us can relate to, especially amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. “We wrote this song last summer, but as we built on it, it completely took on a whole new meaning because, right now, a lot of us are actually losing people we love,” Meghan says.

“Looking For You (Everywhere)” combines a dulcet cello hook, with a heavy drum beat and melodic harmonies creating a hauntingly beautiful single that puts an indie-pop twist on the loneliness felt when losing something or someone.
Pro Tip: This song pairs very well with a sunset ride in a nearby suburb. Crank up the volume, and slow down. Don’t be afraid to go down roads you’ve never traveled—it’s okay if you get lost for a bit. This drive should be all about taking in your surroundings and making peace with not always knowing where you’re going or if you’re on the right path. It’s okay to feel lost sometimes but just know that you will eventually find your path.
