PREMIERE: Flat Swamp’s By All Means EP

Theo Hartlett is the kind of musician who could do anything, but sometimes the projects you hold dearest take a while. Flat Swamp is his forte, the solo project he has dabbled with over the last few years between his time with Ovlov, Spook the Herd, and that pesky college education thing. His new Flat Swamp EP, By All Means, has been on the back burner since it was written in 2013 with the help of his friend and Ovlov bandmate Morgan Luzzi, and he’s been waiting for the perfect time to release it. How about today?

The EP was engineered by himself and Jesse Weiss (Palehound, Grass is Green, Spook the Herd, Super Volcano) and features Morgan Luzzi on guitar on tracks “Don’t Count on Me” and “Mr. Good Guy.” The EP evokes Flat Swamp’s past releases of chunky pop punk but brings a noisy aspect that channels co-Exploding in Sound Records friends Two Inch Astronaut at times. Hartlett says of the songs on the EP, “it feels really great to finally be able to release them,” and we hope you enjoy it too!
