PREMIERE: Krill – “Purity of Heart”

Krill-PurityofHeart-1

In anticipation for their sophomore LP, Lucky Leaves, Jamaica Plain’s Krill already shared the album’s first single, “Never a Joke,” and are now introducing the album’s second single, “Purity of Heart.” A glorious mash of time-signatures platforms singer Jonah Furman’s trembling vocal style perfectly, but it is the peculiar marriage of lyrical simplicity and structural complexity that makes this track the most interesting. The band finds such cohesion with their new material that they are able play with tension and release in a unique way and give muscle to the train-of-thought choruses that carry their songs. This is all evident in “Purity of Heart” and only increases excitement for the release of Lucky Leaves on June 24th.

Initially, the only physical release of this album was going to be a USB drive embedded in a ball of mozzarella, but in the past couple weeks, the band has now decided to release Lucky Leaves on 350 mixed color vinyl LPs and 150 CDs in LP jackets (faux LPs). You can pre-order all of the formats on Krill’s bandcamp page. They have also planned release shows for both Boston and Brooklyn, the details of which you can find below.

Guys, Lucky Leaves is going to blow so many minds, I just don’t know if you understand.
