Gabe Bernini has had a busy fall; he played keys on tour with the band Deer Tick and put out an album aptly called Gabe’s Album. As simple as that sounds, the album is anything but. Over sixty songs were written by Bernini to form the final cut of sixteen songs, all recorded in his home studio. Bernini accompanied himself on all of the album instrumental’s and the end product lives somewhere in the dreamy landscape of revisited classic rock, complete with blurry samples but also featuring the inescapable Hammond Organ and Clavinet.
‘Lord Of My Love’ wastes no time, clocking in in at 2 minutes and 27 seconds, but the inspiration of the song itself was avoidance. Nervous about texting his crush, Bernini went to record in his basement before seeing a movement across the room of the paranormal sort. Jarred into the moment, he texted his paramour about his sighting who responded that it was the “Lord Of My Love!” Trying to romance your beau? Ghost sightings might be the ticket.
While the video goes in a different direction, complete with Bernin’s friend and body builder Hank Macleod, it is still a fun little reminder that struggles with love can manifest in many forms.
