Slowdim is something of a supergroup when you boil it down. Chief songwriter, guitarist and vocalist Paul Sentz was known before as a lead man in Allston’s legendary This Car Up. Karina DaCosta also plays bass in 28 Degrees Taurus and now pounds the skins in Winter as well. Eric Ryrie and James Zaner come from The Shills, whom Zaner continues to play with while Ryrie has taken his talents to Brooklyn to tear things up there. Slowdim will release their debut full-length this week, with a show on Thursday at Great Scott supported by Night Fruit and Fedavees.
Want to hear one of these tracks? Well you’re in luck fella, because today and today only you can hear Slowdim’s new jam, “Wishing Well,” here and here only! Sending the album off on a slightly nostalgic, but upbeat note, the track puts the finishing touches on the band’s 12-song collection of pop perfection. Sentz’ songwriting and vocals are top-notch on this record, and only heightened by the sweet harmonies on backup. Whether it’s the first single, “Money,” the slightly surfy and very jangly “Up Stream,” or the powerful choruses of “Wishing Well,” Slowdim’s debut is an endless bucket of hooks, and one that will surely soundtrack our way into Spring (if it ever decides to arrive). Check out this free download of “Wishing Well” today before it’s gone, and don’t miss their album release show this Thursday at Great Scott!
