Matt O’Connor has been quietly making music under the moniker Tuxis Giant for a few years, and since fleshing out a full band, he’s not ready to be so quiet anymore. Enter the song “Fiona,” our first introduction to Tuxis Giant’s next full-length (and first full band) album Here Comes the Wolf out April 6, 2018 with Matt O’Connor on guitar and vocals, Tim Regan on bass, and James Steinberg on drums. “Fiona” starts quiet but slowly builds up and breaks down throughout the song, creating a fun tune you’d expect in the Allston basement circuit.
The album was recorded in summer 2017 at Lincoln, RI’s Big Nice Studio (IAN SWEET, Horse Jumper of Love, Lilith), but O’Connor had written these songs in 2015-2016, a period of real self-reflection and change for him. He said, “I started going to therapy in a serious way for the first time and really began unpacking things about myself that I hadn’t addressed before. The whole process dredged up a lot of feelings that I didn’t understand or know how to talk about, and writing these songs helped me work through it.” The band will celebrate Here Comes the Wolf‘s release on April 6, 2018 at Trixie’s Palace with Moonish Brute, Trash Girl, and Looks Like Mountains. Hit up one of the bands for the address.
