Veiny Hands Signs with BUFU, Premieres “Tonguing”

Veiny Hands

Out of the swamp and onto the surf comes a brand-spankin-new release by Veiny Hands, a four-piece Florida band from St. Pete. Out today via BUFU, their single “Tonguing” is the first official release from the band, and a terrific melting pot of dark, rumbling riffs, wailing but emotive vocals, and noisy bouts of post-punk for good measure.

While an arrangement like theirs might seem all too familiar, the musicians in Veiny Hands are truly somethin’ else. Consider vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, Jasmine Deja, who is also active in a slew of other provoking, and more experimental projects like Soapbox Soliloquy. Similarly, Rod Olfo who takes lead vox, is also associated with Miami garage rock act Plastic Pinks. Not to mention it’s impressive how quickly and naturally Brie Denicourt took to her instrument of choice, the drums, considering she had never really played until band practice. Lastly, latecomer Xtina Sanchez on the keys provides an essential sound, one that feels both pacifying and formidable; a buzzing precipice; like the Gulf of Mexico at night.

Plus, BUFU Records reportedly, “couldn’t be more stoked to sign them.” That’s quite the compliment, keeping in mind that BUFU signs talented acts like IAN, Tall Juan, Gracie, and Free Pizza. Interested yet? Listen to “Tonguing,” streaming below via Soundcloud.
