Portland, Oregon troubadour Vikesh Kapoor has high times ahead of him. The one-man folkateer is prepping the release of his debut album, The Ballad of Willy Robbins, due in the fall. The concept album chronicles the story of a working class man who goes from everything to nothing, slowly losing his health, family, and dreams in a brutal, but hopeful tale. Additionally, Kapoor will hit the road for the rest of June and some of July, sharing songs from the new record, and sharing the stage with the likes of Tift Merrit and Frontier Ruckus.
Today, catch a brand new music video from Vikesh Kapoor for his track “Searchin’ For the Sun” from the new album. The video was shot at the Star Theatre in Portland when Kapoor supported Laura Marling, and its simplicity captures the isolated nature of the tune. It is clear evidence that he will be somebody to keep an eye on as this new record comes to be. Kapoor, who once called Boston home, continually proved himself one of the the best young songsmiths that our area had to offer. Now that he’s spent some time among different influences on the west coast, it’s clear that he has grown conceptually and become more refined musically. Check out this video for proof, and don’t miss him on tour.
