Preview: Avey Tare’s Slasher Flicks at BMH

Post-Marathon Monday hangover setting in? Need something to get your mind off how much your body is rebelling against you? Look no further. Avey Tare’s Slasher Flicks will be at Brighton Music Hall with a different type of sludge that is sure to take you far away from your current reality.

Slasher Flicks is the project of Avey Tare (Animal Collective), Angel Deradoorian (Dirty Projectors), and Jeremy Hyman (Ponytail, Dan Deacon). Together they have put out a debut, Enter the Slasher House, a full length of psychedelic pop that leaves me with the thought, “Do I like this? I keep listening to it, I guess that means yes,” despite my body saying, “I’m not sure if this is pleasant.”

Avey Tare says that Slasher Flicks’ sound “[comes] from a place that’s not human,” so come on out to Brighton Music Hall for a show that will be anything but ordinary.
