The R&B collective The Internet will perform in Boston at Paradise Rock Club this Wednesday. The talented group took a break recently in pursuit of solo efforts. Each member released a project that showcased their individuality, but now they are back with their fourth studio album, Hive Mind.

The Internet’s main vocalist is trailblazer Syd Bennett, who leads the group while singing openly about her identity as a queer woman.  Syd told Billboard in June, “What I’m focused on these days is stuff that empowers and unites women. If you want to be a pioneer, you have to be intentional, at least a little bit.” Combine this with the pure musical and creative talent of guitarist Steve Lacy, drummer Christopher Smith, bassist Patrick Paige II, and producer Matt Martians, and it’s easy to understand The Internet’s brilliance.

They received critical acclaim for their 2015 album, Ego Death, along with a Grammy nomination and continue to excel and surprise us with their follow up. Hive Mind is a cohesive collection of smooth and easy grooves, accentuated by Syd’s seductive voice and lyrics.

Hive Mind is out now. The Internet plays Paradise Rock Club Wednesday, December 5. Buy tickets here.
