PREVIEW: Man-Of-A-Million-Projects Quantic Is Bringing A Deep DJ Set to BMH (3/19)

By Nick Canton

Quantic will be appearing for a DJ set at Brighton Music Hall tomorrow, ask 3/19.  Hip-Hop/Soul-Singer Goldbloc is opening and the EP at the other end of this link is way good.  Like way good.

You might not know Quantic.  It’s okay, viagra order we all make mistakes.  I’m a fan of Quantic (moniker of musician Will Holland) because he’is someone who has to keep reinventing his sound for fear of succumbing to boredom.  Not that an active listener would have time to get bored.

Quantic proper (Quantic Prime?) was an incredible downbeat project.  The 5th Exotic is from the early Zero 7 and Thievery Corporation era and it holds up with the best of them, looping cryptic and philosophical soundbites with acid jazz.

Between these albums, which is the adhesive of all of his projects, he recorded a much more hip-hop/soul project called The Limp Twins, then onto the more funk/blues outfit The Quantic Soul Orchestra, the world music of Flowering Inferno, and the latin jazz of Quantic & His Combo Bárbaro (most of these with frequent collaborator Alice Russell).  One track you should definitely listen to from the Combo Bárbaro would be “Arianita.”

The moment you start clamoring for another album from one of these, he’s ready to surprise you with a new project.

He has a new album under the original Quantic name, but it incorporates a lot of the soul and latin jazz he’s been katamari-ing along his career.
So come dance and party to his myriad stylistic influences.  I’m not someone would recommend a DJ set unless I knew the guy delivering it really knows what he’s doing.
