scribscrubz: The Front Bottoms, Mac Demarco + MORE

20140913 - on the road from philly

There aren’t many bands I’d travel six hours to catch playing a half-hour opening set.  In fact, there’s probably only one, and it’s The Front Bottoms.  When my friend invited me on the impromptu road trip to Lawn of Mann after last week’s Mineral show, I certainly wasn’t going to say no to seeing my favorite band for the third time this summer (eleven total…and, barring any unforeseeable tragedies, counting).

Their set was short and without surprises, but folks who travel to see their favorite bands aren’t an easily disappointed sort, and we were in very satisfied company.  I was also enthused about having the opportunity to draw Mat, who was only a distant percussive sparkle from my viewpoint at the House of Blues when they opened for Say Anything in July.

After stomping around in the mud to TFB, the crowd eased into blissful swaying under a cloud of smoke for normcore darling Mac Demarco.
