Last Thursday night, fans crowded into the basement of Elks Lodge to catch Show Me The Body on the last stop of their Dog Whistle US tour. The night’s lineup also featured Junta from New York, Symbiote from Atlanta, and locals Mangled and Cult Fiction.
The atmosphere at Elks Lodge felt both supportive and explosive throughout the night, beginning with strong performances from Mangled and Cult Fiction. Their energy carried over into the following sets from Symbiote and Junta, and with each band, the room seemed to get more and more packed, with the energy rising progressively. By the end of Symbiote’s set, the room looked like a sea of movement.
When Show Me The Body finally went on, everyone in the room pressed forward. The crowd packed in tightly around the front of the stage as the trio played their new album, Dog Whistle, from front to back. And from the moment the first sample of “Camp Orchestra” started until the end of the set, people moved together and yelled along with the group. The three piece left Boston with two additional songs, closing with two of their 2017 tracks, “K-9” and “Talk.” By the end of the show, the venue’s mirror and ceiling were damp with sweat and a light dangled by a cord, as a mass of drenched fans made their way out into the street.
