The organizers of the Allston DIY Fest have worked extremely hard the past three years to create a community event that showcases music, art, and culture, while striving to be welcoming and inclusive to any and all. Unfortunately, for some reason, and one in which we will not speculate, their permits were denied by the Boston Parks and Recreation Department, based on several noise complaints from neighbors, and they will not, as of now, be able to use Ringer Park as the site of the festival.

The Allston DIY Fest is not only one of the most fun events of the summer, but it is an important opportunity for the local creative community to connect and share with the greater Allston community. I’ve never seen any sign of foul play or recklessness, but instead a widespread willingness and interest to spread culture, awareness, positivity. It would really be a shame not to experience it once again.
