In 2009, David Berman, front man of Silver Jews, disbanded the indie-rock brain child of Stephen Malkmus, Bob Nastanovich and himself after stating, “I’ve got to move on. Can’t be like all the careerists doncha know… I always said we would stop before we got bad.” Apparently Silver Jews hasn’t gotten bad, or so a post on Nastanovich’s Facebook profile leads us to believe.
Last night, Nastanovich posted a photo depicting himself, Berman, and fellow Silver Jews drummer Brian Kotzur relaxing after a night of practicing. Nastanovich shared the photo along with the caption “After Jews practice tonight!!!! ’tis cold in Nashville.” This is promising news for fans of Silver Jews, but don’t expect a full-scale-reunion any time soon.
Earlier today, Nastanovich confirmed with Wondering Sound that the band practiced last night, and explained what a reunion for Silver Jews means. Will Silver Jews go on tour anytime soon? Nastanovich says the prospect of a tour is “doubtful.” Nastanovich also detailed that the group won’t work on any material for at least one month, because he has left Nashville for the time being. On a more positive note for fans, he did reveal the title of two new songs, “The Veranda over the Toy Shoppe,” and “Wacky Package Eyes.”
