A few weeks ago, local arts collective HipStory launched the first of their digital streaming house party series, which works as a spinoff of the live events the organization regularly hosts when live concerts are a feasible endeavor. Featuring performances by Najee Janey, Anjimile, and DJ WhySham, HipStory set a goal to raise $500 for the Massachusetts Bail Fund. Not only did they successfully hit that mark, but they tripled it, raising around $1500. Sounds like a resounding success.
On July 4th from 7 to 9PM, the HipStory will put on the second in their digital live series. This time around, they’re hoping to raise $500 for the Boston Music Maker Fund set up by The Record Co. The live stream will feature performances by Dzidzor, Mal Devisa, Brandie Blaze, and Cliff Notez. Like other HipStory events, attendance is based on a “Pay What You Can Scale.” Donations are accepted throughout the event, so if you can dedicate any money to the cause, you can donate via Venmo (@HipStory), Cashapp ($hipstory), and Paypal (paypal.me/hipstory). The event is also brought to you by the City of Boston’s Transformative Public Art Grant, the Boston Foundation, and Jack Daniel’s. To learn more about the event, you can check out the info on Facebook and RSVP via Eventbrite. Don’t get scared off by the $35 ticket price; like earlier stated, it’s pay what you can. But anyone willing to splurge for the $35 mark will get a black hat with HipStory’s crown logo.
July 4th also marks a special occasion for Cliff Notez, the HipStory’s founder (and former Allston Pudding writer), who will celebrate the third anniversary of his debut album When The Sidewalk Ends.
